  •   My business needed a plumber to come out to clear a clogged drain and Mitigation was the only company in the area that said they can get to my business in less than 45 minutes. Although the job turned out to be a little more difficult than I expected, the crew at Mitigation took care of it in a professional manner and had great customer service. The staff stayed longer and did not stop until the clog was cleared. Not to mention I did not to pay a penny more than what they estimated. Thank you Travis, Alfredo, Daniel and Tio for your quick response and dedication to getting the job done.

I used Travis and mitigation about a year ago when I had a major leak and damage to my roof and stucco. Mitigation was timely, extremely professional and fixed the leak and did great work.

Today I got a frantic call from the babysitter saying the basement was flooded. I called Travis and mitigation again, and they dropped everything and got there in 2 hours. That type of response time is unheard of! They took there time and problem shot, and found the problem.

I would strongly recommend using mitigation and I will definitely be using them again in the future.

some time ago i contacted Mitigation Inc. for an estimate on some mold remediation work. they asked plenty of questions over the phone and the guy wasn't even all that friendly over the phone. i submitted a mold inspection report, which i sent to two email addresses they provided. never heard from them again. thanks! great way to run a business. we took our money elsewhere.

  •   We were very pleased with Travis and his team. They were fast, respectful, and very clean. We had water damage from leaks in our piping and they acted immediately to start drying out the drywall and assess the damage. I really liked working with one company who handled all aspects of the project - water damage/drying, plumbing repairs, reconstruction, painting, etc. and billed insurance directly. I would definitely consider using them for general home construction projects - they know what they are doing and do quality work.

Only used this company since my home warranty plan assigned my service order to them. Complete circus. They sent a plumber that barely spoke English. I had to explain my problem to three different people in their company. And then they lied to my warranty company about coming out twice to assess the problem. Stay away. I know I will, they are now blacklisted from my plan from ever being assigned as a service provider.

  •   EDIT 5-18-18: The response is fake!! Mike H doesn't exist. A google image search for the image posted comes up with a stock photo! Travis is the owner. I NEVER told him I was happy and would NEVER let him back in my house. STAY AWAY!!!

    ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!

    Summary:
Lied, overcharged, ran up bill to extract max $ from insurance, pressured with scare tactics, provided no paperwork / documentation when requested, cornered me into doing entire repair, extremely unresponsive unless it involved doing more work / being paid.

Why doesn't everyone give Mitigation a bad review? Travis (the owner) has one goal: keep you in the dark, thinking he's navigating insurance for you and you're getting a great deal. If you don't talk to insurance or another contractor, you'll never know what he's up to. Too many people just want the process to be over and don't understand they're being severely taken advantage of. Get a 2nd opinion!

    My Story:
I had a slab leak. A plumber opened a wall and pinpointed the leak near the wall in the living room. I wanted it taken care of asap so I sought out a remediation company on Yelp. None were available until the following day. I called Mitigation. Spoke to Travis and said they could arrive same day.

Upon arrival, he brought his guy (who was nice - Alfredo?). They determined there was a leak and started moving furniture. He rushed me through signing paperwork. When asked, Travis said it committed me to doing the entire repair, not just leak detection. I immediately called my agent who told me not to sign. Travis then backed off and told me it didn't commit me. Shady.

I was told the entire living room floor was wet and needed to come out. Drywall needed to come out. Since the floor is continuous, I'd need to remove ALL the downstairs hardwoods, stairs included. Wow.

Over the next week they came out to tear the house up with promised deadlines coming and going. Travis told me to pay him my insurance deductible ($2k). I called insurance who said not to unless an invoice was submitted. When I told him he became extremely irate. I was accused of going behind his back and pressured me into paying him which I reluctantly did. Don't!

The next few weeks went like this. Insurance had not received anything from Mitigation. I would call, text and email to ask Travis to submit receipts & estimates for the repair. I was met with silence or BS answers. I was told NOT TO CONTACT INSURANCE. He said he is an expert in getting them to pay the max. That's true, but not to me, to him. I had no idea how much I was on the hook for already and he said he wouldn't provide an invoice until I signed a contract to do the rest of the repairs. Are you kidding? No way.

I asked repeatedly for an invoice for work done, copies of the paperwork signed, and an estimate for repairs. Radio silence.

After weeks they finally submit something to insurance, but just for the EMS (no estimate for repairing the torn up house). Insurance said the invoice was excessive and Mitigation came down just slightly to get under their metrics. Travis tells me he knows insurance companies use Xactimate for pricing and he does the same to get the max $. There were insane charges for mold that insurance caps coverage on, which means out of pocket for me. Turns out, he billed WAY more for mold than should've been.

At this point I've lost all trust and am speaking to insurance. Insurance sends an adjuster. Wasn't done initially - overloaded from the LA wildfires. The adjuster was a breath of fresh air. He arrived on time and gave clear estimates and understanding of the situation. He was shocked how much was torn up for the leak type.

I needed an invoice from Travis to close out. There was no way he was walking back in my house. Travis had previously agreed to lower the mold charges to the insurance limit, but now said he would put a line on the invoice that I would be billed the full amount if I didn't use him for the rest of the job! I refused. The result of days/nights of calls ended with me having to literally spell out the invoice for him and received something that looked like a child made in computer class. It took them 3 drafts! Travis literally said he wouldn't date the invoice because "it make us look negligent for billing late." WTF I had to pull teeth to get this invoice and would've paid weeks ago!

I submit invoice to insurance. Travis calls to harass me daily and demands a cashier's check! Travis received full payment within days of receiving the invoice despite taking weeks to receive the invoice.

Later, Mitigation called and solicited me multiple times for positive reviews on Google/Yelp. Wow!

If you have read this, please stay far, far away from Mitigation. Your home will be torn up. You'll be lied to, pressured and billed for unreasonable amounts of $. Mitigation is a parasite.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I'm a very positive person and look for the good in people. See my other reviews.

    5/12/2018

Be very careful dealing with these guys. Called in the morning yesterday about a plumbing leak and told the guy who answered the phone I was looking for quotes and NOT to begin any work until I was contacted.

A couple hours later, I get a call from one of the other companies I called saying they were told not to bother by the "contractor" on-site because they were already starting the work. Furthermore he had my tenant sign something taking advantage of the fact that she speaks japanese and didn't know what she was signing.

At no point did anyone from this company call me to go over numbers, and to have these guys telling people I had already hired them shows how shady they are.

When I get Travis back on the phone he immediately goes into scare tactics of, "You have mold, it's dangerous you need to act quickly." I told him I wasn't happy that they started the work without calling me and told the other companies not to bother was not their business. He then apologizes and asks me what I want to pay them for their time up to this point. I told him I wasn't liable to pay him a dime. Then he goes into an attitude and tries putting the responsibility back on me. After a 10 minute conversation he still hasn't offered a price for the work and continues avoiding any conversation about what it will cost. No determination is made on this call and we agree to talk later as I had a personal issue to deal with.

A few hours (7:30pm) later we talk again. This time, I'm trying to take a calmer approach. That maybe my anger of the earlier tactics were misplaced. We have a rational conversation, but he can't help but use the scare tactics. He cuts the conversation short by saying he has another customer he needs to deal with and he'll call me back. Still no quote.

Now another call @ 10pm and he finally gives me a price of $2500-3000. Just to deal with an 18" square section of drywall. This is not what I'm expecting to pay.

Fast forward to this morning and I start making calls. I get a legit company out and it turns out it hasn't turned into mold yet and the guy treats the area and won't even charge me. A drywall company will be out Friday for $550 to fix the damaged area, texture and paint.

He's got some good reviews, and maybe their work is legit, but I WILL NOT reward tactics like this to earn my business.

Wish I could give them -5 stars. I called because my landlord refuses to call a professional mold company to fix a mold problem. My landlord wants to clean it off. I was calling for simple advice "Is it safe to have the mold cleaned or not" the man on the phone refused to help me. He said he won't tell me anything and if my landlord won't call, then I need to figure out what to do. Don't use these people.

  •   I've used Mitigation twice!

Once for a flood damage. and again for asbestos removal.

The supervisor, Travis, cleaned up my unit perfectly during the flood, then went down to do the work in the unit below mine so they wouldn't sue me for water damage. His expertise was a life saver.

They do all work in house, meaning no sub contractors!!!!

Facing a water flood emergency, we liked the detailed yellow page info of Mitigation Emergency Services. Travis and his team quickly responded to our call, worked rapidly to control the damage and inspired confidence they were able to deal with all aspects of our emergency. The required work and support required several months of intensive effort. We were very pleased by their thoroughness and professionalism. TOTALLY SATISFIED!!! Roy C

I've also used Mitigation twice. Both times the work was done perfectly. This last time we had a pipe spring a leak inside the concrete in the garage. The water travelled up the wall and caused mold and water damage in the adjacent bedroom as well as the garage. Travis's team responded to our call and they were there within 2 hours. The city of Torrance inspector who came to sign off the job said that he sees a lot of their work. He showed me the things that he was looking for and said that the work was done very well, consistent with what he is used to seeing from Mitigation. Having a leak is a stressful experience, there is no doubt about that. When it comes to your biggest investment, it is worth it to me to have peace of mind that the job will be done right.

  •   Mitigation, Inc. did a great job repairing damage caused by a flex pipe leak in our master bathroom on Friday, March 30. (I called Mitigation, Inc. because they had done an excellent job in 2011 after a major water pipe leak in our kitchen.) I was so relieved when Travis and two workers came out within an hour even though it was Easter weekend. They set up huge fans to dry out the affected areas (master bath, hallway, master bedroom and "computer room") after pulling up the carpeting and padding and taping plastic sheeting on walls to limit dust. About 5 days later they opened up the wall between the bathroom and hall to check for mold despite the insurance company agent saying it wasn't necessary. I trusted Travis' judgment as he has had over 30 years of experience and is very knowledgeable about insurance coverage and regulations. Luckily for us, they DID find MOLD, which insurance should cover! Travis called us each day to let us know when workers would arrive and how long they would stay. Crew members Alfredo and Guillermo did a beautiful job repairing the wall and repainting the area. They were very professional, polite, and cleaned up each day before they left. The job took almost 2 weeks, but I was highly satisfied. We paid the $1,000 deductible and for replacement of the bathroom faucet but insurance should cover the rest. I highly recommend Mitigation, Inc. for dealing with water damage caused by plumbing leaks.

  •   WE recently had a water leak under our kitchen sink that lead to a lot of water damage to our cabinet, kitchen hardwood floor and the rooms below. it was a bit of a nightmare. i found this company online as my insurance company would not recommend a specific company. unfortunately when you need these types of services, there is no time to shop around and get multiple bids over weeks of time. i was quite pleased with the services. travis the owner is very conscientious albeit strong willed. he and his crews work literally all hours of the day and night, and travis is excellent at updates and communication. they do very thorough work and do not cut corners. the ladies who work in his office are extremely helpful and responsive. when these services are required it could lead to price gouging, but travis' prices are fair. overall, i would recommend this company if heaven forbid you need them.

I called Mitigation, Inc. at 8 pm one night after finding water on my
    kitchen floor.
Wherever I stood in my kitchen, I noticed water coming
    up through the grout lines.
I spoke with Travis, the president of the
company, on the phone and he had few workers at my house by 9 o'clock
    that night.

From the first contact, I was impressed with their professionalism.
The two guys that showed up at my house were very courteous, professional, and evidently experienced. They didn't waste anytime
setting up the initial mitigation process and managed to answer all my
questions to my satisfaction before leaving in a few hours.

The next day, Travis came over to explain the process of restoring my
home to original condition. I knew I've called the right person for
the job and felt lucky to have his company handle the insurance
matters; I learned that Mitigation, Inc. has over 30 years of
experience in this field of business.

As with any construction, I also had a few issues with the work. But
to my surprise, every time I've mentioned the problems to Travis, it
was taken care of without any noticeable displeasure from him or his
employees. It was a very refreshing experience as I've had unpleasant
experiences with other contractors in the past.

Though I was initially hesitant about recruiting the services of
Mitigation Inc., I have to say that I'm overall pleased with my
experience with Travis and his crew. They were timely, professional,
and courteous, and I could not be more satisfied by the end result.
Thank you Mitigation, Inc. and Travis for all the hard work. The end
results are great and above my expectation.

Great job! You have a customer for life!

We have a second house in Torrance I use during the week since I work over that way. The shower in my master bathroom developed a leak. I was not aware of this until I noticed that the floor in front of the shower door was spongy when I walked on it. I also noticed that there was some blackness where the edge of the linoleum was against the opening of the shower. I went online and researched what the problem might be and figured that I had some kind of slow water leak somewhere in the bathroom. I figured if it had been a full blown leak then it would have caused some kind of flooding. I was not sure if this would be covered by my insurance company, but decided I should have some plumbing or water damage companies look at it. Even though it was after 9 p.m. I decided to call the water damage companies whose websites said they were available 24 hours. Mitigation was the only company I called that I did not get an answering machine or someone who could take a message. When I called Mitigation I got a person, Travis, who said he worked directly for the company and could help me. I explained our problem and he offered to come over right away to look at it even though it was not a real flood type of emergency. He did some testing to find the water leak and he figured out that the problem was a combination of a slowly leaking pipe where it connects to the shower and that the floor of the shower had cracks and separations in the grout that was allowing some of the water when taking a shower to go through these cracks and into the flooring. Over the years the combination of the slow leak and water through the cracks had accumulated beneath the floor. This also allowed the black mold to grow and that it was now coming up through the edge of the linoleum. He told me that basically I would need to take out the shower so that all the damaged flooring could be replaced and then build a new shower. I knew this was going to be a big expense, but with the mold it would not be something I could put off. Travis offered to talk to the insurance company directly to see what could be done. Fortunately the insurance company agreed to cover the claim. Travis's crew removed everything and because water damage had also gotten under the vanity the vanity had to also be replaced. These guys did a great job and my bathroom looks like a remodeled bathroom. I would highly recommend Travis and Mitigation--they knew what they were doing and most importantly they worked with my insurance company on my behalf. I am not sure that if I had some other company come out that they would have been as knowledgeable about the problem and how the insurance company might work. Certainly every situation has differences in what type of coverage there can be, but in my case I think Travis made the difference. Because of this and the beautiful work they did in completing the bathroom I am giving them 5 stars and would highly recommend them to anyone who has water damage in their home.

I recommend this company 100 percent, customer service was excellent. Mitigation saved us from the headaches of dealing with insurance company. Travis the owner and Daniel his manager where excellent by listening to our concerns and helping us through this nightmare. First off we just bought our dream home and when a pipe busted near the kitchen, we where upset. 4 plumbers where sent out, by our home owners insurance, they all said lets tear down the brand new kitchen, I was in schock. So, I called insurance company for guidance and they where horrible, they where trying to tell me, we don't cover any cost to go through your kitchen and where interrogating, instead of helping me. I paid $2000.00 for my home insurance, to get harassed, what a nightmare. After researching online, I called Mitigation. Immediately Travis put me ease and told me he would handle everything and deal with insurance to cover the busted pipe & any repairs. Finally something positive. From the 4 plummers to my insurance company (State Farm) were negative by telling me, we might not cover, maybe, not sure, don't know until we tear down. Finally after speaking w-Travis he was positive and told me don't worry we will handle it. He was there every step of the way, with the city, with mold company, with meeting w-my insurance agent, & making sure I was happy with all the work. I am so grateful because Mitigation was able to fix the pipe through the living room, so my kitchen was not touched. Yay! Million thanks to Travis and his team.

  •   I only gave them one star becasue there doesn't seem to be a way to give them no stars. I made an apt. for someone to come out to snake my drain and they called to say they couldn't come which is ok; they said they would come the next morning. The next morning a man calls to ask a question and then tells me the price is different than I was quoted. He said he was a general contractor as if that was supposed to impress me. He was on a cell phone and I couldn't hear him so asked if he could repeat and he said "No." I asked again as I figured he didn't hear me but he refused again and was very rude so i told him I didn't want them coming out. I would ever call tis company again.

I agree completely with the review that S.R. wrote about this company and Travis in particular. I called them in an emergency situation, was quoted a price and they started working. The work itself was clean and professional and they seemed to do a good job. When the bill came it was several times larger than what I was quoted and Travis mentioned that insurance would take care of the difference. Well, insurance was able to cover some of it and then Travis started to come after me for the rest. It was a very uncomfortable situation in that I believe I was pressured to pay more than I would like; the insurance company paid significantly more than they needed to and all for something that took a few days to fix (I won't even get into what I think is happening with the insurance companies). Mitigation Inc. and Travis are shady and I highly recommend going anywhere else. This was an awful experience and one of my very few YELP reviews.

I had a major plumbing leak that destroyed ceilings, flooring and walls. Travis and his team quickly took action. Within the first two days, they packed out all my furniture to storage, fixed the plumbing leak and started the process of drying down the affected walls and such. Then they went to work removing mold. After, they installed new wood floors, dry wall and painting fit and finish. Their guys are top notch, they showed up every day and worked very hard to deliver excellent results. If you ever have major water damage and need a one-stop-shop that deals with plumbing, dry down, mold and the actual repairs to walls and flooring you should contact them.

  •   We have used Mitigation Inc. two separate times and have been happy with all of their services. We have had a major water Pipe Burst in our Slab and another Water Pipe Burst a couple of years later. Mitigation Inc. with Travis handled everything from start to finish with the complete repair of our rooms from the damage. They did such a good job, we had them Re-Pipe the entire home. The price was reasonable and we knew we could trust them to get the job done right. Mitigation Inc is our first place to contact when and if we have a need for repairs & restoration of our home.

This is the sort of company that makes you doubt every plumber and every contractor you hire. They claim to work 24 hours a day -- but not at 8 pm at night.
I was desperate so I kept dealing with them. Big mistake. They showed up possiblly around 9:30 am and didn't tell me they were on site as they said they would. After they left, I called for a bill. They refused despite four requests to provide a bill. What they did at site remains unclear to me. Each call from this company comes from another phone number. Conversations with Travis produce alarming comments that the entire plumbing of the house is about to blow up. How would this company know since no camera was used to look into pipes? Or was it? Unclear. The last conversation comes when Travis calls at 9 pm! Really? is that when you do business? More inflammatory comments follow. I'm Mickey Mouse like his sister in Orange County, he says. ... I finally got a bill but only after being told that I should really replace main. Ok, I say, could you write up an estimate? Oh, Travis says as we are now moving past 9:15 pm, that's too much work. Well, I say, about how much would that be? Travis says $15,000. The logic here is insulting: he wants $15,000 but doesn't want to write up an estimate because it's too much work. Furthermore, similar work I recently paid for at another site cost less than one third. Travis blows hot air and whatever work he does, he is unwilling to explain what it is. STAY AWAY!
